This species is now extinct in Thailand
English name: False Gharial (aka: “Sunda Gharial”, “False Gavial”)
Scientific name: Tomistoma schlegelii
Thai name: Ta-khong, Ai Khong
note: The False Gharial used to be found in southern Thailand, but it has not been seen there since the 1970s and is almost certainly extinct in Thailand. Small populations still exist in penninsular Malaysia and the Indonesian islands. It is the closest living relative of the unique Gharial of India and Nepal.
